I've been obsessed lately with drawing architectural details - particularly those with a bit of an organic feel. So I sat down with my pad of Arches paper the other night and started doodling a little cottage (and I do mean little) out in the woods. Now I'm just not sure if the cats lounging about are tiny or if the flora is huge. Hmm... I get so inspired at the beginning of every year with all the goals and possibilities that the new year holds. So "Carpe Annum" - or "Sieze the Year" - has become my unofficial motto for this time of year. There's just something magical about new beginnings (or maybe it's just the sugar rush from eating nothing but holiday leftovers for a week straight). Hold on to some of that new year magic all January with these computer and phone desktops. I've always dreamed of a silly little birthday party out in the woods, with mystical, magical attendees. Maybe it's just too many readings of Alice in Wonderland, or perhaps too much time spent on my own in the backyard as an only child. Either way, I'm definitely crossing my fingers for this ridiculous party for my birthday this year. I created this piece for Siren Nation's Celebration show last year, and I had so much fun coloring it in, I wanted to share the joy. If you want to see how I colored it, you can find prints and cards...
I took part in Inktober again this year, and it was a blast! Many of my drawings were witch-themed, and I thought they'd make fun, Halloween-y coloring pages.
